PRINT MAKING IN THE NORTH

Cumbria Februrary 2009.

Newcastle is one of the closest most vibrant cities near to my relocated residence.
I have Have become a member of the Northern Print Studio www.northernprint.org.uk/

The change of location, from London to Cumbria has been been a massive contrast and challenge. Whilst responding to this area I have been considering my practice whilst maintaining a link to the continuing approach within my artistic work.

Collecting and sourcing local images and objects I have tried to react to the environment and events using silkscreen as the main medium.

This has been a journey gathering bits of history and contemporary knowledge and combining the two to create original silkscreen editions and mono-prints.

The new technology within printmaking has made fabric printing an accessible way of making marks on material. I have been creating monotypes as well as editions within this medium. I have in the last year been exploring different ways of printing and exploring various material to print on.
The prints and objects that I have been creating in this section have been developed alongside the Heartlands Project. 'Matter of Time Totems' has been my primary project since July 2008.
